Best Summertime Recipes: Broccoli Salad

I should add the word "Easy" to the series title. "Best EASY Summertime Recipes". Because if it ain't easy, y'all know it's not gonna happen. Especially in the summer.  In my mind (or fantasy land), I would pick fresh tomatoes, grown from my garden, and throw together several fresh, light dishes with other organic ingredients that Reginald picked up at the local Farmer's Market. (Reginald is our Butler in fantasy land.)  I don't want to sound pretentious, but I think Reginald would wear a butler uniform of sorts.  Until I get my thoughts gathered on staff uniform style, where to find Reggie, (as we would call him when we are not in formal company), and how to even grow a...

"Who was she?"

Selling estate jewelry for quite some time now, the question is inevitable: "Who was she?"  This especially applies in particularly show-stopping pieces. Naturally, people are curious. Yet so much of the time, I simply don't know.  In the case of Mrs. Janice Brittingham, I was able to gather some tid bits. She liked jewelry, nice jewelry, and a lot of it. She had her things monogrammed "Bossy Boots", a yacht named Azure, and I forget if she named her plane.  She traveled the world collecting jewelry, and I can assume this was the case for her art, furniture, and other treasures she acquired.  I've been given the distinct honor of showcasing Mrs. Brittingham's collection of unique jewelry to you, my...

Hold on to your Easter bonnets

Hold on to your Easter bonnets because this is the best, most decadent, most Easter-y dessert ever. Where this lacks in sophistication, it makes up in flavor.  I think any recipe with the word "Dip" is a little ghetto because of how I say it in my head. That's on me.  Let's think of a synonyms for the word "dip" while I give you the recipe for Mini Egg Easter Dip Below.  Mini Egg Easter Dip:  2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar 3/4 cup Confectioners Sugar 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract 1/2 Cup Butter 8 Ounces Cream Cheese 1/2 Cup Cadburry Mini Egg Candies, chopped   Mix, Refrigerate and serve with graham crackers

Chocolate Meringue Dessert

As I analyze my own behavior, I've come to realize that I go through my days, unconsciously, enjoying sophistication but by taking the path of least resistance. One could say it's a form of art. Now before you get all impressed, you must realize that I'm gussying up what it means to be lazy whilst having Dom Pérignon taste on a Busch budget.   I think I could write a book called "A Lazy Woman's Budget-Conscious Guide to having La Joie de Vivre."  Even writing "La Joie de Vivre" makes this phantom book nobler that it should.  Since many of you resonated with my distaste for Sanda Lee's personality in her show, "Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee", I think there is...

This Impactful Design

Excerpt from my Blog Post from February 9, 2011: Being the baby of the family, I was my mom's sidekick. I'd often copy my sisters, but with the majority of my time being spent with momma, I was mainly interested in the things that interested her. We'd watch TV shows together after cooking supper (before noon) and before Young and the Restless which was the time I napped. Some of our favorites were The Little House on the Prairie, Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, I Dream of Jeannie, and my personal favorite, Bewitched.  One thing I vividly remember about Bewitched: Samantha's necklace.    I specifically remember telling my mom that I liked her necklace; I liked the way it "sat."...
